ABOUT
Cheers is a short film that explores the value of community within a working-class neighbourhood whilst also illuminating structural injustices within the system. Though Cheers is a short film in its own right, it is also the genesis of a feature-length film that we hope to develop in the future.

SYNOPSIS
At the heart of the short film are two characters: Courtney, who is going through private emotional troubles, exacerbated by financial strain, and Luke, who is struggling as a young black student in the school system.
Luke is facing expulsion after being accused of stealing from his school and Courtney, as someone close to his family, finds herself stepping into the role of guardian and supporting Luke during an intense meeting that could go either way.
Will truth and justice prevail? Or is Luke hurtling towards a bleak future that Courtney knows only too well?

SUPPORT US
Phoebe Vigor the writer/director started writing Cheers a few years ago. We had an incredibly successful two-day shoot at the beginning of July 2022. We are now editing Cheers but we still need to go through the process of grading, sound, and marketing development.
Before the shoot, we launched a campaign with the goal to raise £7,000 but reached a total of £3,680 and still want to make up the difference in order to get our film through post-production.
